What Is NETS?

The NETS Institute for Church Planting is a comprehensive training and sending center for church planters and their wives.

Our Mission is to plant and establish gospel-driven
churches in New England and beyond.

Our Vision is to be used of God in the mission of the church, proclaiming the gospel until the earth is filled with His glorious image.

Read our story.

Since the dawn of time, God’s mission for His church has been to fill the earth with His image (Gen. 1:28, Is. 11:9). Today that mission is being fulfilled through the Great Commission, Christ’s command to go and make disciples of every nation (Mt. 28:19). This commission is carried out through the proclamation of the gospel, the power of God for salvation to all who believe (Rom. 1:16). The gospel must be proclaimed to all nations, for how will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? (Rom. 10:14-15). At NETS, our desire is to be used of God in the mission of the church.

Our recruiting process is interactive and personal, and often begins early in your seminary career. We know you don’t need a degree to plant a church, but we value seminary education and require an MDiv or rough equivalent, among other selection criteria, for admission.

Couples receive feedback throughout their residency, including a mid-point evaluation assessing their likelihood of admission into the Field Program.

Our Residency Program is personal, practical and theological. Residents and their wives are mentored along five integrated tracks. They lead ministries, facilitate Bible studies, partner in counseling, and more. Responsibilities are designed to build up areas of greatest weakness.

Personal interaction is key in the NETS Residency. Mentors counsel residency couples both as a group and individually to strengthen their character and marriage.

Before they’re sent out, NETS helps planters target a location, raise support, and develop a realistic timeline and budget. In addition, NETS banquets raise substantive funds for each church plant.

Your relationship with NETS doesn’t end when you enter the field. NETS and The NETS Network provide significant financial support and coaching through the critical first four years of a plant, and ongoing support throughout the life of the church.

  • An individualized, tuition-free residency at a New England church plant for the planter and his wife.
  • Comprehensive training in the personal, practical and spiritual aspects of church planting.
  • Experienced, professional staff to develop a workable timeline and budget, fundraising materials, and other essentials.
  • Financial support and coaching to help a young church become established.
  • The NETS Network, an association of churches and planters offering coaching and support throughout the life of a church.

We invest in the life of each church and each church planter. We know that New England church planting is hard and it takes time. We’re in it for the long haul. Our goal is that every NETS church plant succeed and reproduce, bearing gospel fruit for generations to come.
